On October 3-4, 2014, the foundation Sztuka w Mieście [Art in the City], along with Mr. Michał Urbaniak and his organization as well as with the Capital City of Warsaw—the District Office and the District Cultural Center of Wola—organized workshops for young music talents. It was the eighth edition of URBANATOR DAYS, one of the most innovative arts events in the world.
The initiator and main organizer of the workshops is Mr. Michał Urbaniak, a world-renowned violinist, saxophonist, composer, jazz musician, arranger, and talent scout.
The main idea of Urbanator Days is to conduct a two-day-long series of music workshops open for everyone to attend under the guidance of outstanding music artists from around the world. The event is dedicated to young talented singers, jazz musicians, hip-hop artists, and music enthusiasts.
Urbanator Days involve playing different instruments together, improvising (jam sessions), and exchanging ideas and knowledge. The workshops were conducted by musicians associated with Urbanator, Michał Urbaniak’s famous international project: Femi Temowo (guitar), Otto Williams (bass), Troy Miller (drums), Paul Tomaszewski (keyboard instruments), Andy Nivalle (rapping), Michael Patches Stewart (trumpet). The musicians invited by Michał Urbaniak showed what the most important things on stage are, who to listen to during concerts, and how to concentrate, as well as answered all questions asked by the participants and practiced the art of improvisation with them.
On October 3, 2014 at the Cultural Center in Wola, a series of all-day music workshops were held, and on October 4, 2014 at the amphitheater in General Sowiński Park in Wola, a concert with the participation of all the musicians involved in the workshops as well as a jam session engaging all participants of the workshops took place.
