About

The Sztuka w Mieście (Art in the City) Foundation was established in order to take actions leading to the improvement of the quality of urban public space. Its goal is to promote, support and disseminate artistic initiatives, organise cultural, sport and entertainment events aimed at local societies, taking place in public space.

The Foundation’s endeavours are a result of the need to care about the high quality of urban public space which directly translates to the high living standards for the inhabitants of the cities. The role or our organisation is not only to promote and co-create this quality, but also to raise awareness among local societies. By treating art and culture as a tool and one of the layers building the city’s tissue, we use their values and virtues in order to improve the image of Polish cities.

We support artists, especially the young ones, by creating the conditions for their art to flourish. Another of Foundation’s goals is to promote grassroots activities through the development of the interest in science, culture, art, cultural heritage protection and art tradition in urban public space, among non-professional groups.

We organise concerts, exhibitions, social, cultural and sport events. We also invite local artists, designers and scientists to participate.

We are developing “On a workshop” (Na Warsztacie) project which focuses on cultural education and is based on organising art and design workshops for people of all ages, in cooperation with artists – designers, painters, visual artists, musicians and others. The programme also includes “Let’s EDUcates ourselves!” („EDUKujmy się!”) event where educational materials about public space design and art in public space are made available for free.
